Getting to know Webaholics

Webaholics is a team. We have different backgrounds and skillsets, but that is our strength. Working together has resulted in us being able to do great things that we wouldn’t have been able to pull off alone.

This week on our blog, we spotlight Alyssa Jorgensen. Alyssa joined the Webaholics team in 2018. We are excited to have her on our team.

Utah Native

Alyssa’s hometown is St. George, Utah. She grew up living a semi nomadic lifestyle moving on average every 2 years. She has lived all over the United States from California to Virginia and she has lived out of country for 4 years in South Korea.

She returned to Utah to get her college degree in Graphic Design at the University of Utah. While she is still a big fan of St. George with all of its sagebrush and sandstone, Salt Lake City’s mountains have grown on her and she decided to settle here.

She minored in classical guitar and enjoys the culture in Salt Lake City. She enjoys going to the free big band swing concerts at Gallivan Plaza, visiting the Natural History museum and Tracy Aviary to doodle and occasionally drops in to hang out with the Classical Guitar Society.

Well Rounded

Alyssa is an athletic nerd. She likes to play squash in her free time and takes a breather to play Dungeons n’ Dragons with friends. She also likes the outdoors and enjoys hiking, kayaking and mountain biking. She’s a classical guitarist, an enthusiastic bookworm and an unrepentant doodler.

For 7 years she was a martial artist and once she earned her black belt, she enjoyed teaching Taekwondo and sparring until a knee injury put an end to that hobby. She’s also a big fan of the Salt Lake and University of Utah library. She gets along well with English majors since she is a literature nerd, which unsurprisingly has turned out to be quite helpful when she does copywriting.

Web Designer

Alyssa took her passion for drawing and decided to make it more marketable by specializing in web design. At Webaholics she designs and builds WordPress Websites for clients, troubleshoots and solves problems and pretty much does whatever needs to be done.

As a designer she wears many hats, whether it be design, copywriting, making custom icons/illustrations or motion graphics she’s always improving her skills.

Previous Experience

While in college Alyssa worked quite a few odd jobs from raft guiding to working as a hotel maid while pursuing 3 nearly consecutive graphic design internships. She also volunteered at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium for 5 years working with the Education Staff, Husbandry and the Design Team.

Before graduating she achieved her goal of working as a professional designer. She did print design for the University of Utah Newspaper and their clients. Then roughly a year before graduation she started working as a Web Designer for The Idea Factory. Now she loves working at Webaholics.
